Dust in the wind by kansas

  I close my eyes
Only for a moment and the moment's gone
All my dreams
Pass before my eyes with curiosity

Dust in the wind
All they are is dust in the wind
Same old song
Just a drop of water in an endless sea
All we do
Crumbles to the ground, though we refuse to see
(Aa aa aa)
 Dust in the wind
All we are is dust in the wind
Oh, ho, ho
Now don't hang on
Nothin' last forever but the earth and sky
 It slips away
And all your money won't another minute buy

Dust in the wind
All we are is dust in the wind
Dust in the wind
dust in the wind

"Dust in the wind"By kansas expresses a new meaning of insignificance through connotation and imagery and theme. It shows that although sometimes we think we are the center of everything, we are only one person in the world.
The figurative language used are various metaphors and similes mainly the one used the most is "Dust in the wind" Which mainly refers to the fact that we are just one more person, our problems compared to the global issues are absoloutley nothing, we are just dust in the wind.In one part it includes "Nothin lasts forever but the earth and the sky"and this refers to materialistic people who love having things but it says in the metaphor that only and the sky and earth last forever, meaning that materials dont.Another sentence; "and all your money wont another minute buy" expresses that if you are materialistic and want to have a lot of money that really doesnt do you much good if thats what you spend your life trying to do, and all the money in the world wont buy you another minute which means that the time you waste you wont get back even if you become a millionare because you cant buy time. There is a metaphor in the song similar to the main one; "All we are is dust in the wind" which is "just a drop of water in an endless sea" which also states our insignificance in the world this big, saying we are one drop of water in an endless sea, that metaphor really brings you back to realize how unimportant your problems are.

The imagery used in this song is really strong, the metaphors used really paint a picture, the two metaphors mentioned above really make you think how small you are if you imagine yourself as a drop in the huge ocean. It really gets you thinking about how it looks and the powerful diction helps you with the imagery to imagine the significance visually.

The theme remains the same throughout the song, and so does the tone taking a gloomy characteristic with plenty of metaphors that are sad expressing how unimportant things are, this tone makes the song more powerful because it shows that we should care for the importance and that the important things you cant buy
